According to the Macao Daily News, the Macao Government’s Public Construction Bureau has awarded the “Light Rail East Line Operation System” to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries – Top Builders – Hou Chun Consotium, with a contract value of Macau Patacas 3.657 billion. The provisional acceptance will end on May 31, 2029, Light Rail service is expected to commence in 2029.

The Light Rail East Line is approximately 7.7 kilometers long and has six underground stations. It will connect the Border Gate, Zone A, Zone E, and the existing Taipa Ferry Terminal station on the Taipa Line. Upon opening, it will further improve Macao’s overall traffic situation and facilitate travelers.
